Hi y'all! I've been a bit lax in fractalling lately, partially due to exhaustion from creating my last two upped pieces and because I've suddenly become a rabid rock-hound. (pun intended - lol). Thing is, Florida is probably the worst state in the country to look for rocks and crystals - the only "rocks" here are pieces of quahog clam shells - LOL!
So, I've been spending my time scoping out landscapes that have "river rock" in them. Sheesh - I feel like the funny guy (their lead guitarist) on the cover of Foghat's old album, "Fool for the City" who is fishing in a manhole on a street in New York City - LOL! Actually, though, you'd be surprised at some of the stuff you find. A guy here at work actually found 11 amethysts. A bit faded but the real thing. I never found one, myself, in the landscaping here at work - I suspect Jake dun did scarfed them all up. I HAVE found some neat agate-ish stuff, though, and colored quartz. A number of us at work have bought rock tumblers and are busily ticking off our wives with all the noise and mess.
Anyhow, Joie and I have decided to go to Georgia and South Carolina on mining expeditions. Not the hokey "here's a salted bucket of dirt, now go over to the sluice and find the rubies we put in there" type but real live rock pick, pry bar and sledge hammer digging. Should be fun, though pretty rugged work.
Oh yeah, the fractal - Just something neat I got sidetracked on while I was exploring Julia/fbm PT's in the course of putting together my "castles". Hope y'all like it!
Thanks for stopping by, don't foget to wipe the silica quartz and hematite granules off your shoes - lol! Rick
